Snapper dapper doos! You drew me in there too?!
Aw. I feel like the lesser child of greater sires entering the hall of Valhalla. You know what I mean? In crazy fabulous excellent company! :D
Besides that...
I love the expressions, and the whole: 'ONWARD TO VENGEANCE, AND VICTORRRY!' thing that's going on in here. This piece of artwork looks like it must have taken for-EVER to draw; with all the napoleonic details you've rendering so smashingly in it. And, so many! Kudos for the emotional charge; it really works for this.

P.S. Do you wanna see my snoz?

Well, that's the vibe that Vyse is giving off, anyways. Some of the other ones look like: 'I'm unsure about this. Perhaps we could discuss this over tea?'. And others, like my sketchified me, look like: 'I don't know where we are going, or why. But everybody seems to know where they are going, and since I am lost, I shall follow!'

:D The hat is large, but it is aerodynamic! So long as I point myself in the right direction, it'll all be fine and dandy.

^^; you've gotta just be saying that.
Well, haven't you ever been kinda lost, and see a group of people who look like they know what they're doing, so you just kinda follow them? I do that lots. :D

My God this is amazing! :O

The poses are excellent and the uniforms mind boggling! :D They look like they're all making their way towards the docks to take to their respective barges and board their ships... like they're on a mission.

And for some crazy reason... the good Commodore Vyse reminds me of a certain one armed admiral! :D His face and how he carries himself both reflect him. I like the inspiration there! "Vyse, the radical Commodore, one of Nelson's lot."

hahahahaha you do me way too much honour, commodore!! how great would that be?

i am fairly sure i'll do a french and american set as well. so you'll be master of that!!!! :D

apparently they're not going to the docks - they're on a mission somewhere and vyse has got them all lost... lol

i draw the guys better when they are doing something, rather than stanfing about

means a lot that you like it, its almost a tribute to all you've taught me sir! :D

:D... im nelson... thats soooo going to my head...

Ha ha ha!

Uh, David? What are you doing?

*Vyse rips his cuff from his lapel and jams his arm back in the sleeve, stuffing the green visor back under the brim of his hat.* Ummmm... nothing.....

Aye! And I'm quite the opposite. I can draw a stationary figure, like they're part of an old Peale painting... but in action? I'll pass... =P

Why not? Weren't they allied during the American Revolution? But I want to keep the French uniform I'm very proud of it. I will send you a link for the 1764 naval regulation.

i've got reference for that period already - they're almost identical to the american uniforms of the period as well- id appreciate a napoleonic officers uniform though - what rank was your ancestor again???

I have four ancestors who served in the Amercian revolution actually. The first was Henry Brocas de Boisgris who was Capitaine de Vaisseau and then Chef de Division he's my favourite one. The other one was his cousin Dominique (the more ambitious) a former staff officer he was Lieutenant de Vaisseau and Major de vaisseau ( commander) in 1786. The others Raymond (the best one in terms of living) and Andre respectively their son and nephew they were midshipmen and then Enseigne de vaisseau. The nephew died at the Saints I think in 1782.
Amongst them Henry was a honorary Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy but in didn't served as a fighting officer and died in 1816, his son Raymond joined the Royal Navy and became Captain. The last one was Dominique's grand child he was midshipman and then lieutenant and it is said that he'd even reached the rank of Commander but that's not sure at all. They all returned in france after Napoleon's fall in 1815.
Finally I've learnt few monthes ago that one of my ancestors went to United Sates bought a house in Virginia and served as a privateer during America's quasi war with France and he came back in France with his money after the request of Talleyrand. There he married a bourgeoise then he was again privateer for the USA during the war of 1812 and died from malaria after a trip in India in 1817...
Well I hope you're not asleep after this long history of my family's history... I hope you've learnt about French aristocratic refugees' faith during the Napoleonic Era.

But there is no matter don't forget that during the Rvolution and Empire my ancestors were refugees in England and two of them served in the Royal Navy. That's why we've lost our title of nobility...

Well actually I'm prouder of my ancestors who served with the Insurgents but one of my favourite is Raymond who served in the RN. But I also love the British uniform but I prefer to see myself wearing the French uniform. At last another of my ancestors stayed in the French Navy during the Empire but he resigned his comission in 1809.

I'd wanna be a privateer =D Yeah... I'd have at least 2 pistols loaded and ready to go, maybe 4. Sword wise, I'd have a slightly oversized saber. Nothing fancy at all on the hilt, just a plain old saber, probably seen a lot of action, but in perfect shape.
I'd want to be wearing a Tricorne or a savvy hat, and a vest with a sash. Again, nothing terribly fancy... I'm a poor privateer ;p

Is there something I can do for you in return? You're doing all these cool projects for your friends, I ought to do something neat for you back =)

star wars one's up next i think

Wow, uniforms in this one are magnificent. Every detail is included. And a big suprise indeed, me, a Royal Marine! You do me a great honor old boy.

What would I be saying... Nothing. Enlisten men are not to speek to an officer without permission, or unless delivering a report XD. Oh, and feel free to use my real sur name, Casey. Sounds far more authentic than Radavik for that time period.

Nice work mate! Looks brilliant.
