Rogue Redcoat by GeneralVyse Rogue Redcoat by GeneralVyse
Hey, apologies to our American cousins, but i wanted to do something with a Redcoat. I had an idea for a little webcomic, novel type thing featuring a redcoat in the Revwar but it never got beyond the idea stage - this is the main character doing some righteous ass kicking (or face hitting?)

Hope you like it, this is one evenings colouring and took 2 to 3 hours.

He's of the 1st footguards, and his opponent is similar to the New Jersey rifles, though they didn't have uniforms like this til 1812???

Anyway, this was more an exercise in drawing than one in accuracy.

ENJOY

Oye mate, those colonist folks made an excuse - instead of going to the open battle they kill your boys in the woods and villages, from any cover. Plus that lobster fashion =) made bad service. It's hardly possible to imagine a better aim.

It's called a re-enactment. That's why we do that. People in the UK do it too. If you want some Continental Uniforms and wish to re-enact the battles of Brandywine Creek, Long Island, or Germantown (Brits won all of those BTW), "Have at it, Hoss" as we say.

Eh no prob, British are better at hand to hand than the militia-man he's wailing on. Only complain I have is I think the bayonet is too short. It should be twice that length. Though I realize it would go beyond the pic if it was longer.

Yes sorry, it went off the paper, and in order to colour it, I had to cut it off with a lack line :(

Glad you like it though, I ought to do some more!

Pshaw. You can't be a redcoat and do righteous ass kicking. ;-)

The composition is great on this one. I love the yankee's overcoat.

I approve. A righteous Guardsman, and an unfortunate yank... wait, what happened to the regs surrounding being clean shaven every morning... Put that man on a charge!

I've heard that the Continental Army would collect redcoats from captured or dead British soldiers, bleach them and dye them in blue and wear it.

I think it'd be quicker for them to make theri own coats! LOL.

British drummers wore reversed coat so theirs were blue coats with red facings, which is what the continental army adopted, so maybe that's the connection - look at the band of the Old guard, they're a continental army band, with reveresed colours so they look like redcoats!

Yes, very nice.
Especially with the butt plate, it says "Fuck you, I'm shiny!" *face punch*
Nice job on the detail as well. :)

Hehehehe indeedy :D

I'm not sure how realistic a pose it is as the rifleman would be pretty dumb to get clobbered like that.

What the pose of the guy swinging or getting hit?
Fuck, I would do that if it takes like 2 mins to reload the dam gun (clubbing the guy) :XD:
Well, maybe the American didn't expect the Red Coat to rush him, for the battle fighting style back then was like stand 50m apart and shoot in turns at each other.
