And then we live more happy lives,
by gettin' rid of brats' and wifes,
Scold on both the Night and Day,
Over the Hills and Far away!

There is no one to the left OF Vyse... Or is it that the guy on the LEFT is Vyse... Or Vice-Versa
(pun intended or not... I don't know how to exactly pronounce your name.)

Why are they marching in column? Dont they go into battle in ranks of 2.

mmmm, you're right, but column isnt exclusively french, everyone marches in column for travel, lines for battle. It is a useful formation if you're in peril of a cavalry attack, there's whole maneuvers for how to turn a column into a battalion or divisional square; its amazing really!

But yeah, in battle, ranks of 2! ;)

You know, that's how I imagine Andrew Bolkonski from War and Peace, like the first or the second guy in the column (they look quite alike in fact :D )!

bullets? pish posh! nothing stops the guard! *bang* urkk

seriously they did fight like that - well the french did - the british usually fought in extended line (two rows - very long) like the 93rd highlanders at the charge of the light brigade!!!! :D
but yeah it was a bad idea - but it was easier to defend against cavalry in this formation - and generally - enemy gunnery and guns werent that accurate...
