A Lancer without the czapka/chapka/tshapska/chapska headgear!? Heresy!

Apart from that nice uniform concepts.

Good drawings.
But I just need to point out that the hat of your grenadier isnt proper...
With that kind of 3-corner hat he would bump it off his head all the time when throwing the grenades...
(they used too anyhoo, but the hat stayed)

The proper hat would be the guards hat, but that would be moot as grenadiers would be the elite and thus guard -grenadiers. More often than not
:)

They only allow you so much space in your gallery? What's up with that? I check out your scaps an they rank right up there. But my only question would be in those tath ones what's with the big black cloud?

ahhahahaha, its called fog of war - the bits his men cant see, i hide until he can. makes it more realisic, otherwise hed run from the enemy before he even saw them!

you get 500 deviations, no where near enough, and you dont get more for subscribing!

well I feel really bright. But that makes sense and it cool that you've made it as realistic as possible.

I've seen people's galleries go well passed 500 deviations that's really odd.

Wow. I'm impressed at the sheer the detail to these uniforms. This piece must have been a bit of a pain to research and sketch no doubt.
These are (if this is a silly question feel free to laugh) uniforms based on those of the 1st Empire of France and early 1800's- esqe Britain, no?
Reply
:icongeneralvyse:
GeneralVyse Featured By Owner Aug 18, 2007
Indeed they are! But the references are mostly British, and late c19th, but set for late c18th! :D I have to say though, i did NO research for this unless you count a lifetime of doodling and reading LOL, i certainly had no reference to hand.

This is fairly average detail though, you should see what i do when i really try! ;) LOL

LOL :D i wanted to make some fairly smart uniforms, real ones of the era were usually covered in silly ribbons and cords - not practical and way too soppy LOL :D

thanks btw!

Heh, well i based it on late c19th British army caps, but they WERE based on prussian one's so you're right. I just wanted a compact functional cap :D

i understood lancers were principally countercavalry and that their uses against infantry were limited... having only so many lances
