At the Mountains of madness V2 by GeneralVyse At the Mountains of madness V2 by GeneralVyse
Inspired by Oxomoco ([link]) I decided to some more in the style of Lovecraftian Horror. Here we have a scene derived from the story 'At the Mountains of Madness", If you want to know more about the story, follow the link below. You'll notice, that despite this being a snow scene, they aren't deep in snow - this is concurrent with my own experiences of walking on thick compacted snow in the Welsh Mountains, and hopefully this will be born out in the Final coloured picture.

I have instead used more military characters rather than the University Graduates who feature in the book. The man in the foreground wears the British Army 'Tropal' coat and mittens designed by Shackleton et al during the first world war. Over this he wears a sort of sheepskin waistcoat.

The man to the rear is wearing a naval greatcoat and cap.

I wasn't sure if the breath was a bit corny actually, but I'm glad I captured the madness!

Corny? Hell no, I thought it was a terrific touch, making the scene real for me! I could feel my toes getting cold just looking at it! :D

Thanks Broadshore! Have you seen a Tropal coat before? They're quite a nice bit of kit for a WW2 reenactor - the SAS wore them in their LRDG days.

Tropal coat? The MOST rarest of rare coats to fine? I would love to see one upclose. The only time I have seen that jacket or coat was over the net.

A friend of mine has one and I saw one on ebay for 50, but I didn't have the room for it so I let it go. They'r very thick and when you take it off, it will almost stand up on it's own like a tent! If I see another, I will link you!

There's a snowy version of this, but it looked like a christmas card so I kept it simple. The photo which makes the background is one I took in Snowdonia a year and a bit ago.

I'm delighted you like it though ;)

I'm imagining the A Shoggoth on the Roof-Crew singing christmas carols. For the awakening celebration.
